Raranga – weaving

Raranga whakairo – patterned weaving

Taonga – treasure, prized possession

Tupuna – ancestors

Whakapapa – genealogy or lineage; to recite in proper order. In this context, it refers to the traditionally-followed approach to a certain woven pattern
